KBM Outsources Technical Services to Pure IT
KBM Commercial Floor Coverings Inc. is the largest single source provider of commercial flooring products in Western Canada. They are involved in various types of commercial projects from retail, institutional and corporate providing the best possible flooring solutions and services for every customer. In every aspect they continue to improve their operations for their customers and employees. KBM is a private company, with their head office situated just off 26th Avenue near the Crossroads Farmers market and they operate 2 large warehouse complexes in Calgary.
Due to KBM’s continued success and growth, their existing network and communications systems were strained to the limit. The company was experiencing a variety of problems including server disruptions, downtime, viruses and slow response times. Another problem was that communications and information sharing between their work groups was virtually impossible to accomplish. A decision was made to upgrade KBM’s business infrastructure which would allow their executives and staff to benefit from a more stable technical infrastructure, improved financial reporting, better warehouse controls, and easier inter-company communications. This necessitated a complete overhaul of their existing technical systems which in turn allowed KBM to upgrade their email, integrate their Blackberry devices and CRM system and provide remote access to their critical applications so that KBM’s managers and staff could start sharing information about projects, customers and company performance amongst their various divisions more efficiently. KBM contacted the manager of Pure IT’s Technical Services team and after several meetings, presentations and a project proposal, we were given the approval to proceed with the project in January.
The entire project consisted of 7 distinct phases with milestones and reporting after each phase. Due to the efforts of our project specialist and consultants this project has come in on time and on budget and KBM is extremely pleased with our work and the business benefits that they are now experiencing. The Pure IT Technical team continues to work regularly at KBM’s head office with weekly visits to provide ongoing support and maintenance for their technical infrastructure. We also provide their staff with Microsoft Office training so that KBM can get the most out of their investment by keeping their employees productive.
